Paul-Williams

Paul Williams (born July 27, 1981 in Augusta, Georgia) is an American boxer. Nicknamed The Punisher, Paul is a notable boxing prospect and has been featured on ShoBox, a boxing prospect show on Showtime, several times. He is ranked 7th by the World Boxing Association[1], 5th by the International Boxing Federation[2]and 1st by the WBO[3] in the welterweight division. At 6'2, Paul is considered extremely tall for a welterweight, and his 82" inch reach is simply incredible for fighters in his weightclass. (By comparison, Muhammad Ali, a heavyweight at 6"3", only had an 81" reach.)

Beginnings and Amateurs

Paul got his start in boxing from the suggestion of a family friend who saw him fight in a school bus. The driver suggested that Paul use his energy in the boxing gym, and connected him with a manager and trainer. Williams fought only 20-25 fights as an amateur before turning pro at the age 19.
