Kyle-Snyder
Kyle Ehren Snyder (born September 9, 1977 in Houston, Texas) is a starting pitcher who plays for the Boston Red Sox. Previously, Snyder played with the Kansas City Royals (2003, 2005). He is listed at 6-8 and 220 pounds, is a switch hitter, and throws right handed. He attended UNC-Chapel Hill.
Through 2005, Snyder has posted a 2-9 record with 58 strikeouts and a 5.64 ERA in 121-1/3 innings pitched.
He is best known for his 4 1/3 inning relief effort for the Red Sox in a July 31, 2006 game against Cleveland. Entering the game with Boston trailing 8-6 in the 5th, he held the Indians scoreless before David Ortiz hit a walk-off 3-run homer in the bottom of the 9th, giving the Red Sox a stunning 9-8 victory. He allowed only 1 hit while walking none and striking out 6.
Snyder re-signed a one-year contract with the Red Sox on January 12, 2007.
