Tony-Battie

  Demetrius Antonio Battie (born February 11, 1976 in Dallas, Texas) is a professional basketball player for the Orlando Magic in the National Basketball Association.

Battie attended South Oak Cliff High School in Dallas and played college basketball at Texas Tech University where he ended his career as the school all time leader in blocked shots with 162. Battie was drafted 5th overall by the Denver Nuggets in the 1997 NBA Draft where he played one season. He's also played for the Boston Celtics six seasons, the Cleveland Cavaliers, and the Magic in a trade that brought Drew Gooden to the Cavaliers. In his ten year career, Battie is averaging 6.7 points and 5.7 rebounds per game.

Battie played in all 82 games last season with the Magic, averaging 7.9 points and 5.6 rebounds per game.

Battie also saved his teammate, Paul Pierce, by rushing him to a nearby hospital after a near-fatal stabbing.
